40 Years, Some Things Change. Some Don't. "Deal or no deal?"

There was once a television show called Let's Make a Deal. It was a great show. The studio audience dressed in outrageous customes; you never knew what you were going to see. It was, without question one of my favorite television shows.


It seems funny to think of now. There was a day, which was at the time a monumental television moment, when Carol Merrill - who was the Barker's Beauty of her day - had the opportunity to speak! Not just be seen, point and smile.

40 years later {!!!!} NBC brings us the American version of what has become a worldwide phenomena Deal Or No Deal. The world has changed greatly since the days of Monty Hall and Carol Merrill. Howie Mandell is surrounded by 26 models on this gameshow.

While Angelina Jolie topped People Magazine's list of Most Beautiful people last year, "one" of those chosen was Deal Or No Deal's 26.

Howie's "date" for The Emmy Awards this year happened to be five of the models. Keep an eye out, you never know where they might turn up. There have been numerous sightings this past year. {Trivia Note, looking at the profiles of the models, several have been featured as Barker's Beauties}

There has been a proliferation of "Reality Television". It is, in fact, anything but reality. On Deal Or No Deal, shortly after the broadcast begins something which has become unique in television occurs. There is no pretense, no masquerade. It is exactly what it is presented to be.. After Howie's trademark line, "Ladie's, please..." there is what for heterosexual men is a bit of "magic" known as The Models March...


Yes, it's true. This past week as the show premiered, the jackpot grew to $6 million. There was more money to be won by people at home playing The Lucky Case Game. The contestents were great! A ton of money was won. We would be fooling ourselves, though, to say that there was not interest in "the 26".
The models, by the way, donated the dresses they wore during the first week to the charity Clothes Off Our Back.

I've waited as long as I can. 8-) It's time to count down. Forget starting at 10 or or even 3. I can't wait that long. Let's start with...
