Good Morning, San Diego!

Photograph by Kilroy_60
I'm a curious sort. {Yes, I know that can be taken more than one way}

Something I find fun about blogging is how you're able to touch people around the globe. That makes a world map of visitors the most interesting Site Meter feature to me. It satisfies my curiosity about the locations from which people visit.

The number of people only attracts my attention because the first thing you see when logging in to Site Meter is a summary.

I'm well aware that while some visitors come purposefully others are misguided and some fall down a rabbit hole and land to find their virtual fate momentarily twisted.

All are welcome, of course, regardless of the route taken. What you'll find isn't something that can ever be predicted so keep the proviso in mind that's included in the header.

It's been almost 22 months since I installed Site Meter; this morning my counter rang up visit number 35,000. That visitor came from San Diego, California.

One proven way to attract visitors to your blog is by writing comments. I invite you to get in on the fun. Write a comment and include a link as an invitation to your little corner of the blogosphere.

Photographs By TheSpecialOne

What a great surprise I had on Monday.

TheSpecialOne captured the first {real} snow of the season in The Writer's Refuge. What had come earlier was nothing more than a dusting.

Yes, I got one....

It was TheSpecialOne, though, that truly celebrated the best of the arrival of Winter. This series of shots she got, I thought, was rather impressive.

I think I may just have to take her out for a photo safari. I'll have to give that some thought and come up with something good for her to shoot. Other than snow!

The First Snow Of The Season Marks The End Of Golf For 2008

Photograph By Kilroy_60

I was wrong on Friday, I'm happy to say, when I thought that I wouldn't get out to play golf again this year.

As it turned out I played with TheRedhead on Saturday. We also got out to play 18 holes.

There weren't many people on the course, mostly because it was gray, cold and a bit windy. But, it was dry and that was the deciding factor. {The fact that TheRedhead's father has a cart with a heater helped.}

We didn't bother keeping score; in fact both of us played three balls. It was fun getting out on the course one last time this year.

Better later, of course, in front of the fireplace giving TheRedhead a full body massage after grilling steaks for dinner.

We woke up this morning to snow. For me, that officially marks the end of the golf season. It led to a long morning in bed, though, which makes for a delicious substitute.

A Garden Party At The Writer's Refuge

I got back to town early Saturday morning.

I'd only planned to be gone for a few days, but my client meeting took longer than expected and then I had opportunities to play golf and to meet with two prominent Republican party operatives.

TheSpecialOne had a handful of her girlfriends over for brunch Sunday. Most of them hadn't seen what she's done with the garden in The Writer's Refuge and I thought it would be fun for her to share.

She was surprised to see the Obama/Biden sign I put out, but not as surprised as I was that she asked me to leave it there.

I'm not sure how much I'll be posting this week becauese I have another trip coming up. More later.

GREEN ACRES Is The Place To Be...

Gardening is something I have a long established passion for; albeit not the sort of garden you make available for public consumption.

This summer a vegetable garden popped up in The Writer's Refuge.

I love fresh pesto; so TheSpecialOne decided to raise some basil. Add tomatoes and we have fixings for Bruschetta, another favorite. How bell peppers were added to the mix I'm not sure.

It certainly is entertaining to see, at least for me.

Life Never Gets Boring...

I came home last night to find I'm the proud owner of a new cart, some sort of tub and new cone flowers and lilies.

Yes, as it turns out, while I went to the bar for lunch with The Master Baiter, which turned out to be lunch and dinner, TheSpecialOne went to the garden center.

She moved some other things around in the garden, then got sidetracked when a girlfriend stopped by before getting the new stuff in the ground.

Uh huh, life never gets boring.

Did I Mention...?

Did I mention that TheSpecialOne bought a "squirrel proof" bird feeder for my garden?

I complimented her on the feeder, and it has been good for attracting gold finches, which is what it's supposed to do, but I didn't comment on the "squirrel proof" claim.

This is one of the things that makes The Writer's Refuge so much fun.

Winter Fatigue And The Writer's Refuge

Photograph by Kilroy_60
Have I mentioned that I've had enough of winter? Yes, so make that, more than enough.

The winters I enjoyed most were the years I was in college. Or when I was living on campus, even if I wasn't going to class. Since then, more than anything it's a pain in the ass.

These days it takes a special circumstance for me to gain much enjoyment from such weather. The snowdrifts in The Writer's Refuge, I think, made for an interesting photograph. I can't say much more for it.

One week until St. Patrick's Day. Another, like Cinco de Mayo, of my favorite days of the year. That will be fun regardless...

All in all, I'd much rather be trying to line up a good shot of an undulating green, working out how to get a putt into the hole.

A Bad Day On The Golf Course Is Better Than A Good Day At Work

Photograph by Kilroy_60
This week I have to put together a media kit for a client whose launching a new web portal, work on a corporate identity program, write three advetorials and analyze a website that needs upgraded.

As Old Lodgeskins said in Little Big Man, "Sometimes the magic works, and sometimes it doesn't."

Noting I wrote sitting at the keyboard was coming together today. So I retreated to The Writer's Refuge. I did make progress with my writing, but it was a letter not any of the projects for work.

I haven't felt much inspiration for photography this winter, which reflects being in an overall funk with the weather.

I went to the driving range at the golf course that I regularly play for practice during the summer. After about an hour I was feeling better. The one hits of BC Bud I was doing between shots didn't hurt either.

Awash In A Tsunami Of Pleasure

I had TheSpecialOne purring this morning. And screaming. And playfully begging; in her intoxicating, incredibly convincing way... Funny how one can be saying please, when you both know who is in total control at that moment. Needless to say, we both know it's not me.

Yes, a tsunami of pleasure engulfed us a few times this morning. Which made riding that wave this afternoon all the more enjoyable.

In between I made her smile. She loves monarch and tiger swallowtail butterflies. Which made me very happy to be able to shoot these photographs for her...

She loved them so much that we made sure she had an orgasm for each of the shots I got. An enticement to keep me on the ball she said. I'm looking forward to coming closer to 30 next time around.
