Photographs By TheSpecialOne

What a great surprise I had on Monday.

TheSpecialOne captured the first {real} snow of the season in The Writer's Refuge. What had come earlier was nothing more than a dusting.

Yes, I got one....

It was TheSpecialOne, though, that truly celebrated the best of the arrival of Winter. This series of shots she got, I thought, was rather impressive.

I think I may just have to take her out for a photo safari. I'll have to give that some thought and come up with something good for her to shoot. Other than snow!

The First Snow Of The Season Marks The End Of Golf For 2008

Photograph By Kilroy_60

I was wrong on Friday, I'm happy to say, when I thought that I wouldn't get out to play golf again this year.

As it turned out I played with TheRedhead on Saturday. We also got out to play 18 holes.

There weren't many people on the course, mostly because it was gray, cold and a bit windy. But, it was dry and that was the deciding factor. {The fact that TheRedhead's father has a cart with a heater helped.}

We didn't bother keeping score; in fact both of us played three balls. It was fun getting out on the course one last time this year.

Better later, of course, in front of the fireplace giving TheRedhead a full body massage after grilling steaks for dinner.

We woke up this morning to snow. For me, that officially marks the end of the golf season. It led to a long morning in bed, though, which makes for a delicious substitute.

Autumn Colors And My Three-Year Blogiversary

I enjoy the colors of Spring, but it's Autumn's colors that I look forward to every year.

Spring colors come more as a Relief from the ravages of Winter. All too often, though, Spring can be a Tease. A flowering tree in blossom doesn't necessarily mean the end of freezing temperatures or snow.

Autumn, at least for me, is more a time of celebration.

By the time the the color of the season arrives football season is in full swing, it's time for the only part of the baseball season worth watching and both basketball and hockey season are kicking off.

I hit golf balls year-round. If I had to choose between playing a round on a warm Spring day or a crisp Fall day I'll play in October any time.

I'm playing much better this time of year, of course, but it's also more interesting playing in the Fall. I don't even mind losing my ball when I can't find it under the fallen leaves. I tend to light a joint and walk around "looking" long enough to smoke it.

I'm happy to grill a steak any time of year. There are more and better foods to go with it during the Fall than in the Spring I think. I also love all the pumpkin products that become available this time of year.

Autumn has been especially good this year. The colors, as you see, have been vibrant and there are still a lot of leaves on the trees.

It's great to see, especially today on my three-year blogiversary. Thanks for stopping by to share it with me.

Now, I'm going out to play golf. Ciao.

Fall Foliage Tour 2008

I hit the road with The Master Baiter last week...to research an article, meet a potential new client and for some fun and games.

I'm fortunate to have a practice where I can limit my clients to those who come as referrals. As a psychiatrist and an attorney The Master Baiter knows a lot of "interesting" people and I have some unique opportunities come my way as a result.

As things develop with my new client I'll provide an appropriate update. Look for the article this week. As for fun and games, following my attorney's advice, that would best be left to the imagination.

Shooting photographs in a moving car, while rolling joints, isn't the easiest thing to do, but I thought these ones were worth sharing...

What Better Way To Say Good-Bye To Summer?

Yesterday was the last full day of summer; autumn arrives this morning at about 11:30. It's always struck me interesting that the seasons change not only on a particular day, but at a specific time.

Amazing that the rose bush outside my dining room window blossomed yesterday morning. Yes, this is, officially, the last rose of summer. What makes it especially notable is that there was only one other rose on this bush all season and it was the first one that came out!

Looking at this rose this morning I couldn't get over how beautiful it is. What better way to say good-bye to summer?

In The Garden With MarthaStewartLite

I had lunch one day at MarthaStewartLite's house with TheSpecialOne.

Martha, it turns out, is interested in publishing a calendar featuring photographs of her champion hydrangea bushes.

While the two of them chatted I shot some photographs she could include in a proposal to her publisher.

These are, I think, the best shots...
