10,001

This is not a "high traffic" blog. It never will be.

What it has been, for me, is a platform, an opportunity and a vehicle. To say what?; to do what?; to go where? Those are questions you'll have to answer if you want to know; I don't analyze it. My advice, check out the Best Of... section in the sidebar.

It's been a little over 7 months since I installed Site Meter. This morning I hit visit number 10,001.

There was a time, during what will soon be two years, when I didn't need Site Meter to know I wasn't getting any readers. There have been times I had more visitors and times I had less. I don't rate the performance of this project simply by traffic and I don't judge success based on agreement with or praise for what I present.

From this chair, Fear And Loathing - The Gonzo Papers has been a success. That is what matters to me.

I do appreciate those bloggers - and non-bloggers - who have visited and supported this project. I value the bloggers I have developed relationships with. I appreciate the interest, time and effort people show who choose to write comments.

In short, I'm looking forward to the journey through another 10,000 visits.

Visitor number 10,001 came from the state of Hawaii in the United States of America. The most interesting aspect of Site Meter, I must say, is not how many people visit, but where they come from...

The volume (or lack) of traffic was something that I really questioned when I started my blog. It actually came down to did I want to blog, and if others joined me ok, OR was out to be popular and have a high traffic rate. I chose the first.

I celebrate every new person that stumbles across my blog but even if I get no comments, I shall still blog on :-)
