Golf Replicates Life More Than Any Other Sport

Seven Springs Mountain Resort...
"As we all know... golf is a puzzle without an answer."
-Gary Player

Golf replicates life more than any other sport.

When I offer that proposition to people who play golf, they typically nod in agreement. Those who do not play frequently ask a simple question: why?

Golf is not a team sport, you play as an individual. You may play with other people, but the bottom line is...it's you against the course. And when all is said and done, you do the best you can do, but you never win.

In golf, as in life, there are obstacles to avoid and, as sure as the sign rises in the East, hazards you're unable to avoid sometimes. The key to success is how you deal with the situation at hand.

There are days in life that the easiest thing to do is hide from the world and rounds of gold when the easiest thing to do would be to walk off the course. Ah, yes, but what's important is to push through and make the best of it. Because tomorrow is a new day and another opportunity to try and do the best you can.

There's one thing I can guarantee you, the people who are happiest in life, those who achieve greatly and have the most fun are brimming with passion. Nobody who plays golf with any regularity is passive about it.

I thought it would be fun to include some of the most interesting golf courses in the United States. Check 'em out.

Oakmont County Club...
"It's probably the best course in the world . . . This is the greatest course I've ever played."
-Johnny Miller

Highland Links Golf, North Truro, Massachusetts...
(at Cape Cod Highland Light)
"Anybody who plays golf will tell you that you play against yourself."
-Martin Sheen

Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, Georgia...
(Home of The Masters)
"If there's a golf course in heaven, I hope it's like Augusta National. I just don't want an early tee time."
-Gary Player

Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, Indianapolis, Indiana...
(at Indianapolis Motor Speedway)
"Confidence in golf means being able to concentrate on the problem at hand with no outside interference."
-Tom Watson

Sedona Golf Resort, Sedona, Arizona...
"Golf has probably kept more people sane than psychiatrists have."
-Harvey Penick

Mauna Kea Resort, Kohala Coast, the Big Island of Hawaii...
"Golf is a day spent in a round of strenuous idleness."
-William Wordsworth

TPC at Sawgrass, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida...
"Golf is a matter of confidence. If you think you cannot do it, there is no chance you will."
-Henry Cotton

Coeur d'Alene Resort, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho...
"Golf is a spiritual game. It's like Zen. You have to let your mind take over."
-Amy Alcott

Pebble Beach Golf Links
, Pebble Beach, California...
"Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated."
-Arnold Palmer

Moose Run Golf Course, Richardson, Alaska...
"Golf without bunkers and hazards would be tame and monotonous. So would life."
-B.C. Forbes

Golf IS life! in a 4 (or 5) hour round is a microcosm of life with everything that is. You laugh, cry, succeed, fail, hope - and then go on to the second hole!

Golf is the best sport out there because it teaches us to be better people. Lessons that will improve your golf game will improve your life.

Golf IS life - no better way to say it.
